Winter has a great way of making everyone feel like a kid again. Who doesn’t like to see their breath on a cold night, or watch the snow fall, or have a cup of hot chocolate by a warm fire? But however beautiful the snowfall is, each winter carries with it a series of dangers that one must prepare for.
Here are the top 3 ways you can prepare for winter.
1. The easiest way to prepare for winter is to stock up on ice melter. Just sprinkle it on the ground and watch the snow melt. It’ll keep the roads and sidewalks around your facility ice-free and safe for all your workers and visitors.
2. Maintain working fire extinguishers. Typically when the temperatures drop, that’s when many pull out their candles or plug in their electric heaters. Either can lead to a major safety problem in the event of an accident. Keep up with maintenance by using inspection tags, communicate to workers where the nearest extinguisher is using fire safety signs, and use fire extinguisher seals to prevent vandalism.
3. Finally, slippery sidewalks and wet hallways can only mean one thing; trouble. Try to minimize slips and falls by placing mats & carpets at all entrances of your facility. In the event of a fall, be sure you are stocked up on First Aid supplies. Make sure your facility is equipped with first aid kits, first aid signs, and first aid labels & decals.
